Day zero or 1: Arrival Keflavik, Vogar and bits and bites, and kale?

Waking up with a great sunrise om my right I cannot stay in our room in Hotel Vogar and go out to take some pictures. Glad we left the curtains open last night!

After a shower it is at 06.34 hrs (loacal time – 2 hrs time difference with home) it is still way before breakfast starting time, which gives the opportunity to check online for latest updates on Mr B (for new readers Volcano Bardarbunga who is very busy deciding howw and when to dance out in the open ).

After an ever so comfortable flight, with the most attractive healthy foods I saw in my life on planes, and a quick shock over the prices for a bottle of wine (€14 even taxfree), indeed a young man was waiting for us to guide us to the rent a car office of Geygir. After the formalities, a doube expresso and a last strawl around the Hyunda for damage controll/check,we took of for Vogar, unpacked and went into Kefavlik again to have a bite and a look around.

It turns out we both engage easily in talks with locals so we spent quite some time in the healthfood store (we really found it by accident. I swear ;-)) while asking for directions looking for a bank.
The Heilsuhusid.is lady just moved herself from the North two months before, because she was asked to come and run the new shop. We even got to the previous and now retired owners of whom one we know now one of them, his name is Herman, is Dutch. So with a merry feeling of connectedness, coconutmilk, the adress of shops in Reykjavik and a trial mix of anti oxidant superfoods we left the building. And no, we are no health freaks, only healthy kinda freaks, proven by the (famous Icelandic) hot dogs from lamb we decided to eat in stead of the undoubtately much healthier fish recommanded by the hotel owner in Vogar. Maybe on our way back.
The snackbar, (++ as it wasboth good food, nice chaps and in a wonderfull fifties Elvis kind of design) was our next stop to have chats, a great sandwich including baked beans and bacon, and a read in The Reykjavik Grapvine.
Most enlightning. I had no idea there is a party which wants Iceland to become a county or Norway for example. And yes, we know now wher to go during the last two days of our trip.

Son had put somenice mixes on an USB stick (never knew Armin van Buuren also did a Herman Brood Mix), very nice as we can use it in the car! We really dó fancy the same kind of music. Would be really great if he could get a little gig here or there during our stay. So that is what the men talked about when the Me was reading further.
Then an early after dinner no way near sun set strawl to the highest point of rocks next to the harbour of Keflavik to burn some calories in the wind and enjoy the amazing view. Ready for an early night.
Too tired from a long day I couldn’t manage yet to get the proxy working to be able to look the rest of The Bridge II as a night cap, and wonder now whether I will just leave it for when we return.
Time for our first Icelandic breakfast, very curious, and then off to the Blue Lagoon. After a nice long bath there and no doubt some amaing views, we will head to Borgarnes.

Now see if I can upload some pics – My son drawed my attention to the fact that there seems to grow kale on the streets in Keflavik. Enlighten me if you know more about this kinda guerilla gardening 😉 as we forgot to ask.
